Question about AVAST anti virus

In the resident task settings, how do I turn off the scanning for outgoing e-mails? Even a typed up message by myself with no attachment is taking half a minute to go. A big e-mail with pictures from file is taking minutes.
I have read the settings but it isn't written clearly to understand like Nortons is. As I said before, the presentation of this program is pretty poor.
Can't put up with this.

There's nothing wrong with the presentation. It's a nuts and bolt anti virus app that works. If it is timing out on you or giving you problems with this or that, it's probably due to the way you have your system configured.

Tell your firewall to treat it as a trusted application, and go on about your business. I've been using Avast for a couple of months now, and don't even know it's there unless it pipes up to warn me about something.

I've got a few other choice statements that I'll just let go of for now, as I'm already in a crappy mood and don't want to start any fires. Just suffice it to say that if you're not up to the task of mainaining low level software on your system, then maybe you need to go back to Norton.

Gee Big, don't be like that. I thought that you were nice.

VIRAL DATA BASE updates

I have to say that the verbal announcements about the updating of the VIRAL DATA BASE are pretty neat.
