Archiving RSS feeds??

Is it possible to archive stories I get from RSS feeds on my site? This would be a great addition, just not sure how I can do it, or if there is a program out there that makes this possible.

Take the stories that I get on my website through rss, and actually archive those stories that I pull from elsewhere on my website....Make anymore sense? :-)

But archive them where? That's the part I don't get. Do you mean create a web page for each RSS pull that remains permanently?

Yes....sorry, I'm slow today. I want to get thrown somewhere on my backend, individual pages I guess would be ideal, but not necessary. As long as they somehow remain active on my site thats all I really care about.

You could code something that stores the feeds in a DB and gives the page an ID and have a master index page that pulls a list from the db. Add a little more code and it can prune as it goes.

Well, I'll look around and see what I can figure out. I just didn't want to waste my time if this wasn't even possible. Thanx Noppid as always!

With coding...almost ANYTHING is possible.

Its just is it really worth doing and are you prepared to pay whatever it costs to get it done.

I totally see what you are wanting to do. However I dont see how much benefit it would be, at least to sites that I run and/or maintain. Simply because a lot of RSS feeds are current things. Be kinda like keeping every newspaper you received from your very first subscription. How many times would you ever reference an old newsprint?

Not trying to be a smartass by any means. Just trying to put it into perspective is all.

I totally agree, but it is a financial news site where people do tend to look back at articles so that is the only reason we are considering doing this.

What's likely to happen is that you will have the link and a small excerpt, but the links will expire. So you'll have to see how long some feeds keep articles.
