Deleting DB

Hi Noppid -

Based on your post at DP, I ran p3.php on an existing data base thinking it would eliminate non-keyword relevant book entries - but it didn't. Still 15,000+ in the BS. Also, ran it once with a slightly different keyword (via override) and a limit on the number of returned books (also via the override). Same result.

Can you clue me in to what I'm doing wrong? I'm using v1.12.

Also, do I understand that book pages indexed but deleted will still be viewable to searchers? And that I would still be credited with purchase of any such book?

Thanks for any help you can provide and for developing this awesome script.

Well running p3.php will not remove non relevent books in the index. It only removes book that are stale, older then 3 months.

The reason books still work after being deleted is that we get the book data in real time for the isbn passed. So it always apprears on file.

To dump non relevent books, empty both tables and run p3.php for your keyword.

I thought to post it in this thread, as it is a similar thing:
It seems to me that the number of books in my bookstore increases dynamically/automatically. It would be great if there would be an option to not to increase the number of indexed books dynamically, but only use the originally indexed content.

I can consider that, but to do so, you will have to elimiate similars or not link to similars. Links would be outbound if you wanted them. We would also have to turn off dynamic adds at lookup time.

I won't be coding anything for some time yet. But a handy coder could modify that I'd guess.

Thanks

Thanks. I have attempted to remove similars, and can't see anything more for removal, so I believe it shall be enough. I have also moved the url, as probably robots kept hitting the old url which kept adding the previously deleted books back to the index (IMHO).

Now I can finally have a completely on-topic bookshop pages. Thanks a lot for great software!

Great, hope that works out. I wish I had time for more, but I'm in and out with minutes to spare right now.

Thanks for the report back.
