Well, I activated the iPhone 4. I was forced to take some data, I think 2GB. What the hell is 2 GB gonna do? I guess email and some apps are low impact, but what if I look at a video? Sure seems like a bunch of BS still. And what's with the cost of data per GB, are they nuts? What am I missing here?

Well loading and browsing your websites are going to take just a few kb each... you know how large your sites are. Add a mobile friendly skin to them and they'll take even less. I don't much like browsing the web on my phone, but using it as a wireless hotspot for the notebook doesn't use up any more data bandwidth than browsing directly from the phone.
The maximum size youtube allows for uploads on videos is 100MB, but most are only around 1MB -15MB. But lets say you only watch 100MB files. You'd have to watch 20 of those videos to approach your monthly bandwidth limit. That's nearly one 20 minute file every day for the whole month. I doubt you'll be doing that. I think my average monthly data usage on my phone is about 500MB. Even when I'm using the phone as a hotspot, which is only when I'm on the road on long trips, I never exceed 2GB. You can beat the hell out of that data service and I doubt you'll ever exceed 2GB unless you try really, really hard. Start streaming Netflix movies to it day and night and you probably could... but come on, who wants to watch movies on their I-Phone?

Interesting info, thanks. I will probably find uses for it as I go and will have more fun now that the data isn't the boogie man. LOL

Dont know a whole lot about mobile devices and how they work. But I would assume that just like a PC and browser...a lot of images for frequently visited sites get cached into some type of file.
This way...you dont have to download the images every time, thus resulting in lower accumulated bandwidth usage per month. Then again, I may be totally wrong about this. I am "grandfathered" in on AT&T's unlimited bandwidth plan. They dont offer it any longer so I am making sure that this plan NEVER gets cancelled. However, I think that with the unlimited plan...once you it 4GB they will throttle the speed down to "craptastic" values. I too have a hard time hitting that high of a goal.

I am not putting a dent in the data limit on the iPhone. I also got my LG phone back. Yay!
