Sorry to bump, but my site will soon be ready to move to vB4 so I'm wondering if any progress has been made with getting vB4 support into vBPicGallery?

Acceptably Annoying

I just hope you know what you're getting into going to 4. I just finished... or should I say never will be finished... with a migration of a mid sized board from IPB to VB4, and can say it has been one of the most miserable and frustrating experiences of my life. Every turn has been nothing but one problem after another due to the incompetence of the vB 4 code. About the only thing that half way worked right was Impex to pull the data from IPB into Vb, and even then that was only half way.
There's no way in hell I'd upgrade either of my 3.8 sites to 4 yet. No way. From a personal perspective, I wouldn't even set up a brand new clean installation of 4. The code is just not ready yet. Search engine sucks. Links break. Tokens constantly expire. The CMS is garbage, blogs are garbage, the whole thing is just bad. The only reason I touch 4 is because people pay me good money to do it although I keep trying to refuse their money for their own good. It's gotten so bad that I'm starting to think I know more about 4 code than IB does, because I cannot get answers for any of my questions to save my life. I feel like I've been added to the Tachy goes to Coventry list at vBulletin.com because nobody... and i mean nobody... not other users, not staff.... nobody can answer or even bothers to respond to the questions that I have about the core functionality of the software. While I have been a vB fan for years, and think 3.8 is fantastic software... 4 just absolutely sucks. Get ready for a boatload of headaches if you are just hell bent on "upgrading".

I am installing a test forum with vBulletin 4.0.3 and will start trying to do the conversion of vBPicGallery. I have no ETA at this time because I just can't see the whole picture yet. If I have any breakthroughs in the process, I'll let y'all know.

The final pre-release version of vBPicGallery for vBulletin 4.x is posted for download in the members section. We should have a final production release in a few days.

We have over 12,000 members and vbPicGallery 4.0 is working great on our site with vBulletin 4.0.4pl1 ...
Yes, their are bugs in vb4, but nothing we've found that makes it fatal to operate or brings down our site. Just my two cents and experience, although everyone else's mileage may vary .. ![]() Regards, Doug |

Glad to hear you are happy with vB4 and vBPicGallery. So far my experience as a programmer with vB4 has been good.
