The basics of binary is 1's and 0's. A group of binary numbers creates the values. Each binary number in a group is called a bit, and is represented as a 1 or a 0 (on or off). The values are read from right to left and added up. The far right hand digit starts as a value of 1 or 0. Each digit to the left increases by a power of 2. So the second number from the right equals either 2 or 0. The third digit equals 4 or 0 and the fourth digit equals 8 or 0. So on and so forth. For instance the binary number 1001 = 9. 1011 = 11. 1111 = 15. When a bit is set to zero, that means there is no value or the bit is cleared. Get it?
There are tons of resources on the net for learning how to read binary and do mathmatics with it. Just do a search for learning binary.
