symantec LiveUpdate button not working...

winXP Pro; OE 6.0; IE 6.0; Dell Dimension XPS T450MHz Pentium III; Norton AV)

Hello, I hope someone came across this problem?: I had scheduled my Symantec Antivirus Corporate Edition (LiveUpdate) to scan almost everyday and it was fine for sometime then stopped. I then started scanning manually just as frequently and it was fine...until since a month or so ago, it just stopped doing it anymore, automatically or manually.

However, it does scan frequently, and catches daily these viruses:

W32.Stration.D; W32.Stration.@; W32.Netsky.P

but not the LiveUpdate (or maybe it is? I don't know), and I get a msg that my LiveUpdate hasn't been updated for over 30 days.

I went to the Symantec website to scan with their LiveUpdate to clean my computer of all those bugs...but didn't find it anywhere on that site. Did they discontinue lending their scanning?

I do religiously scan the Spybot, Ad-Aware, Spyware Blaster, defrag, etc.

If anyone might know why and how to fix I'll appreciate it a lot.

Thanks so very much! Adelita

I know this is a little late, but having experience with Symantec Corp AV, I figured I'd chime in...If you've got it worked out by now, wonderful

What you may want to try doing is manually updating your av defs, as your latest ones may have gotten corrupted in some manner, making it impossible to autoupdate.

You can find the complete process documented here:

Hello ScottD and thank you very much! The automatic AV scan has started to work since sometime time now...by itself, as I don't remember to have done anything to it. Crazy system huh? So now I don't worry that the button doesn't work when I click on it. Thanks again! Adela
