The Wizard ran off

A "friend" told me he would speed up my Windows 7 ecquipped computer. I can't tell if it's faster or not, but I do know the Photo Wizard is gone. In the past when I inserted SD card in the tower, a square would pop up from Photo Wizard asking me what I wanted to do. It was so simple even I got pretty darn good with my pictures. The "friend" says he doesn't where Photo Wizard went or what might have happened to it. There are several people advertising in our little community newspaper who say they can get Photo Wizard back for 75.00. Is there any way a total idiot (me) can get Mr. Wizard back my self?
