If you use dial up there are a few things you can do in the control panel to make things much quicker in displaying threads. Go here ...
Control Panel Options (http://www.lakecs.com/forums/profile.php?do=editoptions)
You can turn off a few things to make the site load much quicker. It is a compromise, but will make a huge difference.
Scroll down to "Thread Display Options" and you will see 3 options.
You have the option to show or hide various elements of messages, which may be of use to users on slow internet connections, or who want to remove extraneous clutter from posts.
Show Signatures
Show Avatars
Show Images (including attached images and images in [IMG] code)
Turning off all of these or any combination of them will improve your viewing of threads significantly. Images will appear as links you can click to view them.
BTW this may be a good idea for those of you that use the site from work. ;)
