I wanna see if this VC is worth the money ($399 USD)...
Hopefully Dave420 will buy it then review it for me :)
Anyone got it yet

So you prefer an Nvidia over an ATI? Could you tell me why? Personally ive always had ATI cards. Like my 800 ghz p3 has a Rage 128 :)

I just have found nVidia cards to be more stable....cost somewhat less...and I really liked the way that nVidia has one driver for all cards. ATI used to be a pain in the you know what to get working because of all of the different drivers. Not sure if they are still that way or not....but I do know they used to be.

Like Dave said though....you cant really go wrong with either brand now.

my feeling is pre-radeon ATI was worthless for all but video editing.that is what turned me.I was a avid gamer and used the voodoo 1, voodoo2 and even the voodoo3 and 5 -then I got the geforce 256 -it rocked and I was hooked.

Well just to let you know Zero, I find the drivers very easy to install. There is now only one for each family (mine being the RADEON family). Good to know your opinion on the price differences, Ive never really compared. As for the quality of ATI products, Ive always had ATI cards and never had a problem so im good there. From what I read as well, I agree with you that you can't go wrong with either brand. It will be interesting to see the new competition between the X800 and the 6800. I have done some research and this is what I find:

6800
Graphics Core 256-bit
Memory Interface 256-bit
Memory Bandwidth 35.2 GB/sec.
Fill Rate 6.4 billion texels/sec.
Vertices per Second 600 Million
Memory Data Rate 1100 MHz
Pixels per Clock (peak) 16
Textures per Pixel* 16
RAMDACs 400 MHz

X800
160 million transistors on 0.13 micron low-k fabrication process
Up to sixteen extreme parallel pixel pipelines
Six programmable vertex shader pipelines
256-bit quad-channel GDDR3 memory interface
AGP 8X support

They are both very similar when it comes to hardware. I'm really curious in finding out the differences in FPS.
I am personally likely to wait for DirectX10 which hopefully will come out next year.

you missed the fact that ATI has 6 pipelines(that they call 12) and the Geforce has 16.not to mention the geforce 6800 ultra will play unreal tournament 2004 at 1600x1200 with all the eyecandy turned on and still churn out 60FPS.it will be intresting to see them go head to head.
