When i installed my network (router) i really had no idea what i was doing. It seemed straight forward and it worked. The problem is it does not work very well. The thing is that whenever i dont use the connection for like 10 minutes, certain applications such as Internet Explorer will lose a connection, and it will take about a minute of me clicking on links to get it back. Please, if you know what is happening to me, can u plz tell me? THX!
PS - the model of my router is DI - 604 and it's a D LINK

Couple of questions:
1. What kinda of router
2. Are you using a Wireless router
3. Are you doing DHCP or static IP's
switch
I've seen some routers with built-in firewalls that have a feature allowing them to "turn themselves off" after a period of time to prevent outsiders from coming in while you're computer sits idle.

I have a DI - 604 router made by D LINK
It is not a wireless router
EDIT * I do not use static ip's as i have just looked at my settings.
I use this .... "Dynamic PPPoE"
And also BOND...
How would i turn this feature off? Would it be through the disc that came with the package?

Dynamic PPPoE is the DSL side of the router. He meant what are the IP's of your workstations. 192.168.1.x or dynamic. If dynamic you need to turn on DHCP. You may have to set the gateway that they will use too. It's usually 192.168.1.1

I know that my ip on lan is 192.168.0.2 so hopefully that answers your question.
DHCP Server Enabled is what my router says

You're on a 0 network. Most routers come configured as a 1 network.
Set your computer to 192.168.1.2 and the gateway to 192.168.1.1 then set the DNS to what your ISP provides.
As I said most routers that is the IP to the gateway, check the manual.

The IP shouldn't matter,as long as they are on the same network/netmask. anything in the 192.168.x.x will be fine.
Be sure that you configure our router as 'always connected' by default most routers will disconnect after a preset time of no activity. Usually 10 minutes by default.

D-Link uses 192.168.0.xxx -best way to go is to set your network tcp/ip settings to "obtain ip address automatically"
