XBox Live question!!!

My kids are begging me to get them XBox live....!! My question is - I have dsl for my computer connected to a router - How would I connect XBox live to that dsl? through the router?

I have a linksys router with 2 available ethernet ports available - does the Xbox use ethernet or usb to connect to Live....! If it uses usb then how would you recommend I connect it???

the live connects through either a wired or wireless network adapter -but I dont think it will work with AOL.if you go to bestbuy they have the adapters made for xbox and playstation.

xbox will use ethernet.

also you should be able to set up your router to pass the necessary packets through.. check the Linksys help pages, and look for potential firmware updates. I think there is also an x-box forum at xbox.com where they list off ISP's and connection hardware that work and don't work for live.

Also some of the newer routers have preconfigured settings for use with the PS2 and xbox, so one only needs to check a box in the config to enable the onliine service.

I have a linksys router and Xbox live myself. It worked flawlessly without changing any of the default settings on the router.

From what I understand, AOL is not a good choice for XBox Live, of course AOL is not a good choice for anything...

aol is a problem for consoles because you must be signed in in order to make a connection-at last check the x-box didn't have aol built in...lol -but there may be a router that allows you to sign in -if any do it would be linksys ,because they have a deal going with aol.
