K,,heres what im trying to do. to start,,, I have a laptop with a p2 processor, 266 mhz 128 mb, a gateway solo 9100 i believe,, 10 gig hd,,winxp for the OS

im looking to partition part of the hd for linux, im not even sure on how to do it. Im not a fan of winxp(sorry Zyklon since you consider it the God of Operating systems),,i prefer win2k,,but to be truthful i am getting used to winxp and it doesnt run that bad on this laptop,,,so that wouldnt be an issue if its suggested to keep it,

so here are my questions,,
should i stick with winxp??
when partitioning the HD for linux how much should i partition
and are there any versions of linux that i should avoid

you can use Partition Magic to partition with....and/or also i think that some versions of RedHat has a partition manager in the setup....its been so long that i dont really remember....

I just suggested PM because you can easily repartition the drive with the winXP already on there

just be sure to defrag first

sssssBANG!

All the Free Redhat Products except RHL9 have reached end of life. RH9 reaches end of life in April. The new distro is called Fedora Core 1. There is a graphical install which includes a partition manager. But, as ZT said, if you need to make room on a windows drive to add linux and dual boot, you'll need partition magic.
