Yesterday I ran into a major problem on my forum. Here's the basics of what happened:
Got a new sponsor on my site, added the new sponsor to OpenX.
Added another cell to the banner table in the right column template on my site.
It was here that I started noticing problems. I started seeing two ads for one sponsor at times (not supposed to happen), so it would miss a sponsor at times. I figured this a problem with OpenX, and assumed an upgrade to that was in order because it was 2.6.3, and current is 2.8.0
I upgraded OpenX to 2.8.0, and the problem persisted. So I started looking at the plugin code and right_column template for the banner ads.
Suddenly the site goes down with PHP parse errors.
I restore the backup of the OpenX database (2.6.3 version) and the 2.6.3 files, and it is still dead in the water.
So I upload all the forum files thinking it's a corrupt file somewhere, and still dead.
I disable that custom plugin for the banner ads, and it is still dead.
So I remove the old version of the forum software 2.7.x and upload 2.8.2 (keeping the database in tact).
I get the forums running. I then re-install vBAdvanced CMPS. I then cleared the sponsor database totally, deleted the files for OpenX from the server, and uploaded the 2.8.0 files to the server and installed that fresh. Got the sponsors all set up new, and that is working properly.
Ok, that's the back story.... Here's where my problem is:
The plugins tfor vBPicGallery are still showing in vBulletin, although I disabled them manually via the database before uploading the new version of the files (I deleted all the 2.7.x files including the vpg files before uploading the new ones). So I have none of the actual source files are on the server from before.
I know there is a newer version available than what I was running. Should I upload the old version from before (still have the files) to repair that installation, and turn on the plugins, and then upgrade to the latest, or should I remove the plugins and install the new version?
Also, I have images on the server stored in two different locations due to an old old version, and a newer (this most recent) version. Is it possible to consolidate the two folder trees together and have just the one?
I know I have quite the mess here, and I want to get it cleaned up so that I can get the latest version installed on the site.
