Anyone here tried the new kernel? I compiled and loaded the recently released 2.6.0-test10 version yesterday and I am impressed so far. It looks and feels alot faster to me, especially in the amount of time it takes for an app to load in X. Heck even the mouse pointer seems to move faster. :) I had a few issues getting the nvidia 4496 drivers to work under it, but after a patch to the nvidia code and a kernel recompile or 2 I think I have that worked out. Also have a locking issue with my Adaptec 2930CU SCSI controller that drives my CDRW, but from what I gather it's a known bug, so maybe they'll get that ironed out before the release, slated for mid-Dec I hear. Anyway, other than that it's working great and I think I'll stick with it exclusively.

Hehe...Lots of changes to it. They changed the way it handles modules and some other stuff. So it would require a little work to get going on an older distro. Luckily, I'm running Slack 9.1 which is 2.6.0 ready. If anyone is interested, here are a couple of links on getting it going:

The stable release of 2.6.0 is out. Runs great on my main system, but unfortunately there is still an issue with the USB HID drivers and I can't use it on my server, as I need the UPS.
