After it boots, see the windows splash screen and then the desktop icons. A couple items appear in the taskbar. Then I move the mouse to the start button and the pointer turns to the hour glass. Can't click on any icons.
In safe mode I can open Microsoft office programs. Click on IE icon but can't connect to the net.

What OS? Can you run msconfig and turn off what ever is starting at boot up to troubleshoot?

Sorry forgot the Os, it's XP. And I went to msconfig and DAMN there was a whole bunch of stuff listed under startup. I unchecked everything and it finally loads all the way:). I think it's short on memory also, so that's the next thing. Is it absolutely necessary that certain things under startup be checked?

I pretty much turn off everything that has a helper app to start myself.

One way to see what you need is strip it and reload your necessary software and see what it adds. Keep the necessary stuff and turn off the rest. Anything new will be suspect in the future.

That will save memory too.
