View Full Version : Excellent Windows FTP Client
I needed an FTP client to manage this site, to upload and download files. So I hit google and tried out a few free ones. I came accross core ftp (http://www.coreftp.com/) and found it to be fast, easy to configure and use, as well as free.
If you need an ftp client I recommend you try this one.

i personally like the free edition of WS FTP
the only thing i DONT like about it is ya cant delete a directory if it has files in it...you have to delete the files inside a directory FIRST then the directory
maybe the pay version has the capability to delete directories that have files within....
I still use CuteFTP. But then again, I still have a Coleco Vision, too.

the full version just gives you some neat extras -you still have to delete the files first -then the directory. But I still like wsftp -the only part I do not care for is when it installs in explorer and tries to take over every time you go to a ftp site(even just to D/L a file from say nvidia)
I hate the log files wsftp litters all over the place.

I'm currently using core, that is why I recommended it.

Sorry, was doing several things at once, what I meant was are you using the "lite" (free) or are you using the pro?
I'm using the lite free version.

I'll ad my own FTP reccomendation here...
FileZilla
It's an open source FTP client for windows. It does both normal FTP and SecureFTP using various methods, including remote copy via SSH.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla
Try it out, and let me know what you think

OK Core FTP has let me down more then once but in the same way. Somehow it gets confused and messes up the remote file list. Boy did this cause a panic. First time I blamed windows, second time I figure it was core.
So I DL'd and tried FileZilla.
First pro for it and new feature for me is that it sends dummy commands to stay connected. I like this.
First Con is after selecting files for download or upload, there is no start arrow. You have to right click and select the action or queue the file. I can live with this though and may be overlooking something as this is a first glance evaluation.
I'll continue to use FileZilla and see how it fares.
Thanks Anaconda.
