Well, vB just announced vBulletin 3.7 and it looks like it will have photo gallery option.

I wonder how will it affect vBPicGallery and other vB gallery add-ons.
That's a good question. I'm sure it will inspire us to enhance vBPicGallery as well as to try and take advantage of some built in features of vB perhaps.
If it's as good as the blog, which has not been well received it appears, it may mean nothing to us.
EDIT:
After looking at the announcement thread, I think 3.7 is going to be a welcome addition, even with a photo gallery, for us. The new features seem great. I can't wait to see how it is implemented.
vBPicGallery will hold it's place in as an automotive gallery and we will adapt to our customers needs as requested or needed.
So folks, by all means, let us know what we can do. The search feature is done and there are some other fixes done as well. I think 10.0.5 is on the horizon for about Tuesday November 27, 2007 for release.

3.7 is great but the photo gallery leaves a lot to be desired. It's very basic so as far as vBPicGallery it will be business as usual.
I have had a good play around with the features 3.7 has, it's going to add another dimension to Forums, most people will be happy with it, others won't bother updating.
It's pointed very much to the social networking niche, members can customise their own profile page, send messages on it, share photos in a limited manner etc.
Thanks for the feedback. We're trying to get a new version out that will hopefully position us to remain a viable photo gallery option for vBulletin despite the gallery addition.
We feel that the way the vBPicGallery is laid out url and page wise, it is a very good for increasing indexed pages in the SERPs thus SEO friendly.
The latest version, 10.0.5, of vBPicGallery Photo Gallery for vBulletin Forums is posted and available for download.
The latest release contains new additions like, Search, image Re-sizing, image Re-sampling, bbcode URLs for posts in full size photo display, optimization, and bug fixes.
The most important improvement is in the gallery edit screen and the improved and reworked uploading system. It is much more intuitive and user friendly.

vB 3.7 looks like a great upgrade. Lots of new features I look forward to deploying on my site.
As far as the photo gallery goes, it falls far short for my needs. It seems to be targeted more toward the social networking theme. It doesn't come close to vBPicGallery 10.0.5 for an automotive website. If your choice of tools is a Swiss Army knife or a Leatherman then the vB gallery is ok. If your tend to be more of a SnapOn person and want the perfect tool for the job then vBPicGallery 10.0.5 is the way to go.
