Generate Thumbnails

Hello,

Is there a way that I can generate thumbnails? I'm running 4.3.5 and I have several missing thumbnail files. Is there a script that I can run that will generate all the thumbnail files for all of the full size images that I have?

That's old code. I don't think there were any utilities for that version. It was not until much later versions that some utilities were necessary and those were for DB mods only. Not much for fixes because they were not necessary.

Is there a way to do it if I upgrade to the latest version? Can I somehow transfer to db mode, generate thumbs and then go back to files? I dont know how but I lost a ton of thumbs and I have to get them back.

Of course it can be done, I just don't have a utility handy to do it.

The images need to be grabbed from the DB, resized and stored in the thumb field.

That is really simplified, but the process in a nut shell. You can get there.

Is there a way that I can pay you or someone to do this? I really need those thumbnails back. Most of them are gone. Is there no utilities for this in current versions so that if I upgraded I could run the utility?

There may be. But, I don't remember and I don't have the time this weekend to look. But if you can wait till monday or tuesday, I can look at it and see what's possible.

I looked back all the way to rev 7 and can't see where thumbnails were an issue. None of the upgrade utilities deal with regenerating thumbs.

If I code it, it will only work with the current code and vB, so I dunno if that will help ya.

Since I'm not sure where you are, it's hard to say what "you" should do.

But we would love for you to buy a copy of you have not already. :)

I have already purchased a copy if not 2. I have been using your product for a while. When you said, "If I code it, it will only work with the current code and vB, so I dunno if that will help ya." I was asking if you meant the current version of your product since I'm running 4.3.5.

If the thumbnail generator that you create will only work for the latest version of vBPicGallery then I would be more than happy to upgrade to the latest code. I already have it downloaded. Let me know if you still intend to write the thumbnail generation script.

Well, yeah. the best case scenario is to do a backup and attempt the upgrade process. If it breaks, we fix it. I know where we need to be if it breaks.

I upgraded to the latest version but the old images will not show up! I went through all of the steps and I double checked that my image path was correct also. It appears that it setup all of the folders but left all of the images outside of the new folder system. What should I do? www.powerstroke.org/forum/garage/ is where I am working.

looks like ya need to run the upgrade filesystem utility now to move the images.

I have tried that a few times now and it creates the folders but will not put the images into them. Any idea? When I go through the process 99% of the pictures transfer without errors but when you go look, they are all where they were.

Check and see that the folders all the way down the tree are set 777. If that is ok, then the most likely problem is the path.

I'm not at my desk, but to check it I would need FTP access and admin access to the forum.

The folders all the way down are set for 777. I have changed the path to a trailing slash and a non-trailing slash to see if that would help. Other than that, the path is correct. FTP information has been sent to you. my garage folder is located inside my forum folder.
