This problem started when I was attempting to get my copy of windows xp certified. it was telling me that the probuct key had been reported lost or stolen.
I had a msn custoer rep. trying to help me certify my copy, now the modem won't connect with msn, the folks at msn don't seem to be able to help me.
I have run diagnostics, checked the connections, and e-thing seems to be right, the diagostic program indicates that the modem is functioning properly.
I know it is something that I must have done when trying to get cerified, and I don't have a clue.
The computer is a H-P Compact deskpro e- series, and I am operating on windows xp sp2, home editon, can anyone please help me.

Where does the modem fail? Does it dial? Are you sure you have a dial tone? A busy signal maybe? If you have a phone near by, pick up the receiver and listen to it dial and try to establish a connection.

Vantim,
Thanks for your reply, I had a guy in yesterday to look ot the problem, and he had the modem back on line in just a couple minutes.
I still have no idea what the trouble was, he said a simple connection setting.

Thanks Vantim,
This guy I was telling you about, he ran through the different programs so fast I began to get dizzy just watching, I had no idea that my computer was capable of such feats.
I just plunk along at a snails pace, and then it seems sluggish to me, but he sure whipped it into action.
thanks again for your reply
