doesn anyone have an ISO of a win98 startup disc?

let me know ASAP...and you can email or let me grab it from your ftp.....i dont feel like downloading software to rip the ISO of a floppy and make my own

but i guess ill have to if someone doesnt have one readily available

well i have one too....i just need a copy of one in an ISO image format so i can burn it to a CD

im trying to reload win98 on a customer laptop that only has a cd drive..no floppy

and ya cant just copy the files from the floppy to the cd...it has to "think" that the cd is actually a floppy....and you do that by burning an ISO to the cd

burn a bootable cd with nero -when it asks for the os start up disk point it to your floppy. :)

yeah.....i tried that...but something is wrong with my burn box

its always giving me a cache error and ive wasted like 5 disks already

i thought it would be easier if someone could just send me an ISO or an .nrg file...then i could just burn that to cd

the exact error i keep getting is

i figured out why i was getting the error....evidently the floppy i made was bad....and i didnt think it was cuz it worked when i tested it to boot up with....but wouldnt work when trying to make an image with

so i made another floppy....made an ISO and burnt it....but the cdrom istn recognizing

the ole "Non-System disk or disk error-----Replace and strike any key when ready" error message now

sooooooo...must be somethin im not doing right when making the ISO.....i never got much into making disk images....so its prolly error on my end.....

anyway...this is an IBM thinkpad 600...and it has a floppy and cdrom...but they both utilize the same ultraslim bay...so ya cant have them both in at the same time......i never thought that i wouldnt be able to boot up with an OS disc....so i removed all partitions...created 1 partition...formatted it....and now it wont boot from the cdrom.....i coughed it up to being my win98 disk isnt bootable....some werent ya know.......anyway...ill wait till tomorrow and see what ya come up with for me

Try booting off that Win XP CD I sent you a while back unless the sys can't handle XP.

lol...its weird how much we think alike

i installed xp on it...actually its finishing now.....i just wanted to make sure that it was able to load a "bootable OS"...and it is

but i cant keep this on there.....this is only a 233mHz machine with 98mb ram

so im gonna have to get 98 on here....

BUT...at least you know that xp will LOAD on a machine with that lil resource

oh yeah..its only a 2gig HD....so there wont even be much room to add ANY apps after the install

once you run the updates on 98 it is the same as se other then the writing on the start menu.get me on yahoo.
