Just a thought, and curious about what others feel with regards to web crawler cataloguing the contents of cpurigs.com?
What this means is that all posts (apart from members' only areas) will be archived in the search engines' repository. This could trigger a cascaded effect on any links in the posts as well.
Why do we care? I guess if you are paranoid about having your posts being catalogued and searchable, and the fact that the contents may live on some archives forever more.

That just tells you to keep in mind what you type. It could come back to haunt you. LOL

Yes, I am a little scared of that, my boards are very personal, and people say things, i warned them not to give any private info. I am paranoid about that.

Sometimes just by typing the member name ( if it's not a easy name), i can find out what other forums they go, and read their posts there. It's crazy.

Well I know its hard sometimes to seperate yourself from being a discussion forum owner and an actual member of a discussion forum. Especially if you are an active poster on your own site.
However you must keep in mind that unless stated otherwise. Posters posts are the sole property of the poster. And the bottom line is you arent responsible for how someone else acts while on your board...legally nor morally(well at least not legally).
So I always use the rule of my boards being much like a rope. I supply that tool for people to use as they so desire. Some will take a rope and make a useful tool out of it...others will make a noose. Which one is made is totally out of my hands. :)

That's right. If someone is breaking the rules or even pushing them, then it's up to the forum owner and the moderaters to step in. Then there is a choice to be made. Censor the content, delete the content, and/or ban the user. If you become too restrictive then you won't have a site anymore because people will leave. I guess it's a fine line to what action is taken.

My own name is indexed by google, and yahoo, i am like # 1 , there. I don't want people to search my name and find out something about me. I just stupidly gave a testimonial, and used my real name. So now everybody if they want to search for my name will find out i once had something to do with vb license. And i have a very unique name, so they'll know it's me.

They removed my name, but google still directs there.
That is the nature of the internet. The whole purpose is to collect data/content and get it indexed for research.
To block the spiders would be suicide unless you were a huge recognized company with a huge budget for advertising.

If you are worried, don't use your real name or leave links to any of your sites, many underground webmasters do not, we call them black hat webmasters, they will not include link backs to their sites, they use a proxy to surf and they also will not use signature links back to their websites.
On some forums I try to hide my identity so people can't track down where I visit by running a Google search.

I am a black hat webmaster. I just don't want the hackers to find me.

Well, she didn't ask me to come back for next year. So, I am looking for a job, but my husband said it's the best thing that could happen to me. I hope something better will come up. My boss was verbally abusive.

You can't stay somewhere that stresses you out. It's not healthy.
