I want to change the url from mysite.com/forum to mysite.com ( and have only forum there). For the reason that in a lot of places at my work for example, i have a restricted access to anything / forum, my main page has nothing there, so i want to get rid of it. Anybody knows how to do it ?
What are your thoughts on that ?

Copy all your files from /forum to /. Login to the ACP, change the forum URL under vBulletin options.
Delete all the files under /forum and you're done. :)

Is there an easier way to do it? I am scared to do it like that. I thought maybe i could rename the folder. When you say copy files you mean the folders in FTP or the files in the VB admin panel ?

There isn't an easier way, unless you have command line access to the server. I presume even if you did, you aren't too handy with it. This is the only way to do it for most shared hosting environments, You have to physically move the files or else the forum will still reside in /forum.
Here is expanded version of my post above:
Open your FTP program. Download the entire forums folder to your computer.
Upload the contents of your forums folder to the default directory for the domain (probably public_html)
Log into your "old" acp at domain.com/forums/admincp/
Go to vBulletin Options > vBulletin Options > Forum URL > Remove /forums from the end of your domain name > Click Save.
Log out of the ACP
Go to your "new" new forum install > domain.com
Make sure everything works.
Delete the entire /forums folder
That's it, you should be all set.
You're in good hands Julia. Danny Boy has ya covered with good instructions there.

Thanks Danny, last time i tried to rename my forum I lost it, and also i wasn't doing any back ups, so i had to start all over with the help of Noppid.
