Use the "insert image" icon in the advanced reply box. Note that this requires that the image exist somewhere that can be referenced by a url.
As far as uploading directly from the users PC to a thread as a full image... let me know if you figure it out.
do you mean display pics with the vbulletin bbcode img tag (http://www.cpurigs.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode#imgcode) from other locations?

Oh, oh thanks, i just didn't notice that before. So, there is no way to do insert image if it's in your PC, it has to be in url ?
On the upload form here there is an "Upload File from a URL" input box. Maybe it has to be enabled if you don't have it? I'm not sure.

Oh, oh thanks, i just didn't notice that before. So, there is no way to do insert image if it's in your PC, it has to be in url ?I've been fighting that for a while. Not fighting it hard enough to dig into code to figure out why it doesn't work, but fighting it nonetheless.
It would seem that you could use the normal upload functions of the board (which you can), then obtain the url of the location where you just uploaded it (which you can), and edit your post to use the "insert image" function referencing the url of the local file on the board (which you can't).
Dunno.
But no, the only way to put an image in a post from your local machine is to use the manage uploads feature, and that will always put it in the image up as a thumbnail.

If it's already uploaded on the board, use the tags. The easiest was is attach the image to the post and use the paperclip icon (next to the smiley) in the advanced editor to display it inline..
Example:
302
That image is attached to this post, but not in the normal thumbnail view because it's using attach tags.

Thanks Danny. This is one area where I think vBull is lagging far behind IPB. Image handling is sooo much easier in IPB. You just upload an image. If the image is smaller than the size you've set, the entire image pops up. If it's larger than the specified size, you get a reduced size image (not a thumbnail... just reduced to the specified size) with the instructions to "click here for larger image". The user doesn't have to do *anything* special other than upload their image into the post.
There's not many things I like IPB better than vBull for, but image handling is definately one of them. IPB doesn't assume that all users are coders and/or are willing to take 15 steps to do something like put an image in a post.

oh my gosh there are so many ways to upload images, that will defenetely confuse the user ( it confuses me).
which way do you think is the easiest for the user?
The thing is, ya lost me now. hehe
This is usually an admin only thing as you have to access the filesystem and edit html.
What is the big picture here with your goal. I thought I had ya figured out. :)

Ok, i see that some admins don't allow to do images on the site, only attachments, i don't see the reason, my hus. told me it's because of viruses, that the members can bring. Is it right? I am interested what you allow on your forum?
I guess cause remote images can change? I never gave it much thought to be honest.
The permission in vBPicGallery are for privacy. Soem forums want to images internal only.

Does Noppid allows images on his board?
