Hi, I have a strange problem on my hard drive. I used to have a lot of files (around 50gb) on my hard drive, but now, when I enter the hard drive, I cannot see any files. The problem is that it is shown that 50 out of 100 gb on that hard drive are used, but you cannot see any files, it's just empty when you enter it. There are no hidden files and stuff like that, it's just empty. I didn't ddelete the files or do anything with them, they just disappeared, but the computer says that the 50 gb are still being used. Anyone knows how I can gain acces to my files?

You may need data recovery software (http://www.ontrack.com/easyrecoverydatarecovery/) to get them back, maybe windows can't read that drive any longer!

When this happened to me I was able to see the files by running Linux on my Windows box using a bootable CD of the Linux OS from Mepis that ran from the CD without loading the OS to hard drive (http://www.mepis.org/store/sku145)!

If you can see the drive space in use and the files are gone, check your recycle bin. When you delete the files in windows, they disappear from the file system view, move to the recycle bin for later recovery and still use just as much disk space until the files are removed from the recycle bin.
