Hi to all,
Well here I am again, this time I am attempting to connect a pair of speakers, Sony SRS-PC30, to my PC, what I believe are the speaker output terminals are not labeled, so I have no idea which are the line out terminals, I'm assuming those are the correct terminals that I need to connect to, is there any to tell without a owners manual.
many thanks,
Frank aka crazyhorse
Most times these days the output holes on the sound card are color coded.
Green == Line Out
Blue == Line In
Pink == Mic

The colors on the back on my computer is pink,yellow,green and blue, also one of the speakers has a power button and bass boost button and a volume control, does one of the speakers plug into the other one?
thanks,
Frank
I don't think so. The outputs are stereo usually. But I don't know what model sound card or speakers you have.

Well it's a sure bet that I don't know, how would I go about obtaining the needed information?
Do you have a name brand computer? We can look it up if so. If not, we can probably look in the device manager for clues.

If there are 4 jacks then you more than likely have a 5.1 system. NOPPID is correct is saying that the green is almost always for the speaker out. The pink is almost always for the mic. The other two colors are for the rear channel speakers and also for the line in. Which color is which, I do not know. On my system the yellow is line in, and the blue is rear channel. You can also look for little arrows next to the jacks. Arrows pointing towards the jacks mean inputs, arrows point away from the jacks mean line outs. You are also right in assuming that one speaker plugs into the other.
I had a feeling this would be 5.1. But I have never seen one yet. I was wondering, if the card is 5.1 whether the speaker system is as well. Thus I figured ask for the models.
Good catch B.

I think that somewhere we should put up a sticky telling question posers to please give us as much info as possible when posing a question. We are good, but mind readers we are not.
As far as the speaker system being 5.1 or not, it does not matter. The 5.1 surround specs just gives a second and sometimes third output for the second or rear channel speakers, and usually an output for the center channel and or sub woofer. There may also be an optical output for the use of a true optical cable, which only requires one fiber optic cable. The optical cable is the way to go if your speakers can handle it. My setup puts out almost 500 watts of surround sound, and will knock the pictures off of the walls when I use it in true digital mode with the optical mode.

I appreciate you guys efforts,
My computer is a compaq deskpro with a plentium II processor, with 384 mb of ram, a crystal fusion audio system whatever that is, and that's about all the information I can find besides a serial # which is 6850CCJ7HD75

That system is very old and obsolete. The crystal fusion audio system was very difficult to get working with many applications. You would be better off getting a sound blaster live card or any of the sound blaster cards as they work with most applications, and are very well documented.
