This is the kit I started with.

http://www.hobbyplace.com/rocket/est1449.html

It comes with everything you need to build and launch the two included rockets. The launcher and ignitor can be used with future rocket kits you may build as well.

The Large rocket in the kit goes high and is brought back to earth with a parachute. It's really fun to launch.

The smaller rocker in this kit doesn't go as high and it comes down to earth like a helicopter. It can be hard to find sometimes. I painted mine black. Maybe a brighter color would help.

Manuel and I teach classes in building model rockets from recycled parts, but we almost always recommend a starter set to get the launch pad, controller, etc.

Well black looked really cool till I had to look for it. Needless to say it goes up very rarely.

I build my rockets in a laboratory cuz I'm a rocket scientist. I know I haven't mentioned that in a few days but I am. My size of rockets don't have starter kids cuz there like really big and stuff. Our launch pad is on some Cape down south, I am always forgetting the name though, hehehehe. You guys probably know what I'm talking about, though.
Rockets are so cool.
