Temp Folders are where images and files that a web page may display when you view the web page are stored locally to make the web page load faster when you visit it again later and it has not changed.

Cookies contain information about your visit to a web page usually. When you login here, we put a cookie that stores information about your session during your visit. It is not what would be called a "bad" cookie and it makes your experience using our forum better when you allow our cookies.

There are cookies that are considered "bad" that collect information about you and where you were and such that is some cases you may want to block.

You can delete either at any time.

If you delete our cookie, you will notice that later when you visit us, you will be logged out. If you leave our cookie and go away from our site, you will notice that you will still be logged in when you return.

I'm sure there is much more that can be said about cookies and temp files, but that's it in a nut shell.

If you're looking for a good freeware cleaner, try cCleaner. (http://www.ccleaner.com) I load it on every Windows machine I admin. It cleans the tracks from most Windows programs including temporary internet files from both IE and FF. :)

A while back I seen a batch file (aka script) that automatically dumped temporary files on shutdown. Search Google or if you're comfortable doing stuff like that yourself create one.

It is on the computer help forum home page.

Do you have a screen shot? I can't see and image as you describe.

Maybe you can right click it and give me the image path?

thanks
