Hi all I'm a new bee my name is mullan and I'm haveing some trubble with my system. My system was running fine as of last nite but this morning my 3.5 flopy drive has started making a sound like its trying to load a disk! Now i'd just like to know if the drive is on its last leg or is my system trying to tell my something? If its on its last leg can I simply remove it. I'm running xp sp2 with all updates.
Sorry to introduce myself like this but you know computers !!!:)

Welcome to the forum . Normally you would want to post this in the first two forums but no matter we found it and if everything else is working? I would suggest a few things
1. Turn off the computer and restart it ,see if that remedies it
2. Make sure ya don't have something lodged in the drive then Put a floppy in the drive to see if it works .
3. Post back here with your results .

If you opened a document from the floppy, then removed the floppy and tried closing the document....it will search for the disk that the file was on. Perhaps this is what happened? If so reinstall the disk that was in the drive last...and it should stop.
If thats not the case....it could be that your drive is going bad or has something stuck inside...like the dust shield from a floppy disk. Check the floppy disks that you use most and make sure nothing is missing from them.
goodluck!

Ok I don't have anything lodged in side the drive,I have tryied turning off the system,it is still doing it but it takes about 5 mins after a reboot before the drive starts trying to run again.I was wondering if this problem could be from a setting in the bios??

Going by your last post...I think she bit the dust.
Floppies are cheap....it could be worse.
