View Full Version : Audio problems on DVD/RW drive

OK, I had a new DVD/RW drive installed and I'm having problems when I play DVD's. I hear the audio for the previews but once the movie starts there's no sound. Any ideas what might be causing this?

It's not a Silent Movie is it?

Sorry I could not resist and can't believe Zero or big did not jump on this one However do you have all the current drivers for your new DVD installed and or updates ,also will it play a CD recording?

No, it's not a silent movie.

I assume I have all my drivers but I'm not sure. I had the drive installed by a computer place around here. The drive does play audio cds though.

I would got to the website of the manufactor of your drive and check for updates on the thing unless you have a bad DVD by chance Is this a new DVD or a COPY? .Have you tried more than one DVD and get the no sound?

I am also asuming you have some sort of DVD software like Power DVD or Win DVD or something similar .If you have the Software that cme with your new drive you might want to scan through it the tech may have just put the thing in and not loaded the software .

It came with Nero StartSmart. Should I just look in the help section? What should I look for?

Yes I would run the Disk and see if it has options for players and Drivers .It should walk you through it's function .

OK, I downloaded DirectX 9.0 and now it will play dvd's with all audio in Neo but there's no audio if I use any other players. Is it possible or should I just be happy with what I have?

I would recommend you read all the documentation with the new unit and follow the Software install recommendation but it seems you are on the right track .
