That sounds like a faulty power supply. I would check into it and replace it before it fries your system components. The shutdown is probably a safety precaution to keep it from surging your system.
Did you purchase the system from a legitimate retailer? Some retailers who sell used systems will overclock their systems for better performance and then lie about the components to rip off their customers. If this is the case with you, then they probably overclocked it too far beyond spec. This would cause the system to reboot as a precaution to keep from overheating.
This could also be caused by faulty or unmatched RAM modules. If you have more than one RAM module, try removing one of them and see if you still have a problem, then switch them (note the brand and specs, if listed, when you pull them out). You could narrow it down to which one it is by switching them out, but if you can only duplicate the error when both of them are present then the error is probably with how they match up.

was this happening before you switched graphics cards? did you add a graphics card when there was none before (integrated)? if this is the case then you may have to switch settings in the BIOS from Onboard to PCI or AGP (depending on the type of card) for it to work properly.

i agree it is most likely a bad power supply i have had the same exact problem on one of my brand new machines.
