Hello all, this is my first post here as I've never experienced problems that have needed help from others.

The problem I'm experiencing is my screen resolution is stuck on 800x600, and I want to increase it to 1024x768.

I recently experienced extreme difficulties when using my computer, and so I had to format the hard drive and reinstall windows 98. This process was fine, and I experienced no difficulties.

However, my resolution is stuck on the smallest setting and the scroller on the 'Setting' tab, on the 'Display' window, on the control panel will not move. Additionally, I can only get 16 colours.

Before the format, my resolution was 1024x768, so I can definitley get it on my computer. The monitor I use is a HP Pavilion mx70. I also use a PCI Standard Graphics Adapter (VGA).

So does anyone know what the problem is, or how I can solve it?

You will have to reinstall the drivers for the Video Card

Thanks for getting back. I'm not sure if I still have them as I got the computer second hand.

Is there anywhere I can download them?

There is a free tool I saw a while back ,but can n ot find it right now but I will and get you a link to it meanwhile you may go to the Manufactures site and look for it or even try a Refresh under the video card icon in your system properties under control panel

Thanks for the replies, I managed to solve the problem now. However, I have no sound at all now. I do not have the volume icon in the bottom right hand corner (by the clock).

Do I need new sound drivers?
