Pop Ups are driving me nuts! Please help.

Hello all.

I have been looking over these forums for a few days trying to figure out how to fix my pop up problems. Nothing seems to work and I lack the know-how to self diagnose the situation. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

The problem I'm running into is with Ad.Yieldmanager I believe. Sometimes I get PartyPoker.com Pop Ups as well, but usually its the Ad.Yieldmanager.

The thing is, sometimes when they pop up they creat a second instance of IE on my computer and I get the "Switch To" prompt. Only it doesn't switch, it crashes both the Pop Up and the IE I was using.

I used HijackThis to get a log. (I saw that in another post so thought I would follow suit.)

I was also wondering about all the processes the computer might be running that I can't see... Background stuff, I guess. That may be a topic for another forum, just kinda wondering what's needed and what I can get rid of.

Have you run Spybot Search and Destroy or Adaware or both? If not I suggest you do. I prefer and use SS&D....some like Adaware.....some like to run both. Even some will prolly chime in here and tell you to use something else....and thats ok too!

Yeah, I"ve run SB S&D, AdAware, Yahoo Antispy, Windows Antispy etc..

The problem is, they all come back negative.

These things are drivin' me crazy, I don't want to reformat my HD, but I'm running out of options here...

Try running them in SAFE MODE and your Hijack This log has a few probs but I don't have my info with me to help you on that also you need to run that in SAFE MODE also . What does HJT find and reccomend you remove?
.You need a good Firewall to stop the Pop-ups. such a Zone Alarm

Actually my favorite pop-up blocker is poppupstopper by panicware. Do a google on it if you're interested in finding it. We don't tend to advocate specific products on this forum, but I thought maybe this would give you some help. It's not free, and it's a pain to configure, but once you get it configured right you'll never have an unwanted popup again. You'll probably also pull your hair out because sites you really want to access won't get past it's scrutiny. It's worse than your mom going through your dresser drawers when you were in highschool.

I should have mentioned that the computer was second hand so it came with alot of problems.

I did the ultimate fix and had the hard drive reformated.

Haven't had any problems since. Downside being that since I have very little knowledge about computers it cost me 30 bucks at Frye's to have it done. I got some self installing disks now though. =)
