W32.Desktophijack

This is driving me insane. Norton tells me that my computer is infected with the virus W32.Desktophijack and it can't repair, quarantine or delete it. I had to disable virus auto-protect because it repeatedly informed me about this virus which was extremely annoying. I've read through alot of things on the net that tell how to get rid of the virus but there's so much and I feel so confused. Please can someone help me get rid of this virus IN ENGLISH, I'm not great on computers and I just need some easy to follow instructions.
