Internet popup virus need help!

just bought this computer from friend for 25 bucks that she messed up and fixed the load up part the when i started to go on the internet, 30 seconds later all these pages start poping up that are my home page and it does this till the computer crashes so i unplug internet and try to remove the virus but my virus protection didnt detect it. my virus protection its pcillin by trend micro if any one knows of this and can help me get rid of it pelase post thanks in advance

Okay, is this the same computer you posted about in a different thread that you bought for 50 bucks? I'm starting to smell a troll, but I could be wrong.

Please stick to the facts about the problem and don't post in multiple threads about the same problem. Multiple threads about the same problem tend to irritate the moderators. Not me of course, but vantim can get real nasty ;)

If you're getting popups then it one thing and one thing only. Spyware. Download spybot search and destroy and scan the snot out of it. then reboot and scan it again. Then go to www.microsoft.com/downloads and download ms antispyware blaster app. and install it.

FYI... If you post the same thread twice in the same section or worse in different sections of the forums, you may end up getting different advice or even incomplete answers. Trust me if someone is going one direction with the answer on one thread and somebody else goes a different way then big confusion can result.

Besides that we here at The Computer Help forum make way too much money to figure out what question is what. BigH20 is worth 10.2 million over the next 4 years on his contract.... :cool:
