I would just like to tell the webmaster of this forum that for some reason, the first time I tried to register, I never recieved an activation email. So I just re-register with a different user name. The second time around everything work, the two things I did different was use a hotmail address instead of gmail and also used IE to fill out the signup form instead of in FireFox, I am not sure what caused the problem though - just to let you know to look into this, you might be loosing a lot of potential users.

I'm not the admin, and noppid can correct me if I'm wrong, but there should be no issues with firefox. Gmail is most likely the culprit. Some email suppliers fiercely attack what they considers to be spam. Your email was almost assuredly sent by the board, but most likely intercepted by a spam bot before it ever hit your in box. That is not a problem with the board, but with the email service, and there is very little that can be done about it other than having the end user (you) specify that email from the forum be allowed into your in box.
BTW, we like loosing users, we just don't like losing them :)

That is accurate. The big companies eat php mail from forums because they don't want the competition.
Check you junk main box or white list us on the email account you choose to use.
Welcome to the forum.
P.S. There is a new mailer in the new vBulletin that is coming. It should reduce or eliminate this issue.

The emails are usually about instant. But sometimes one will bounce from and internet error and the server may try later or drop it.
I'm not happy with it at all. But help is on the way for the future.

Mail delivery is not necessarily instant, or even in order. It will depend onthe mail servers involved, how busy they are, and any routing problems that may occur between them. This is quite common. So when you register here, or any other board, please allow up to 24hrs before considering it a problem. (Note it can actually take up to 5 days if it's a routing problem) Typically you should see it anywhere from a few minutes, to about an hour later.

Amen brother.... My wife and I chat via email from work to work. Most times I recieve her mail instantly. But every once in awhile I won't get it for hours. funny how the internet works. Sometimes it amazes me that it works at all. (with all the misconfigured machines out there)
