On a win 2003 advanced server.

If any one has a good walk through or has any ideas let me know...
I have installed it manualy, with a GUI win Installer and a win 32 installer. It will not function.
I figured If any where it would be here I could get help.

I'm used to linux (Mandrake).
I have never had any problems with linux, but I wanted to try a Win server........"I know I should of stayed with Linux....:)

But help me get this going.....:)

easiest by far would be to use "foxserv"

it is an all in one app that will install and setup "php, mySQL, and apache web server...(to Hell with IIS!!!)

if you cant find it let me know and ill search for the link and post it

its free!

Thank you ZT I will try it later this week.
I took that server down and have a new one comming this week.
So I might as well start from scratch...:)
I'll let you know how it works out...

Foxserv worked like a charm...:)
Thank you for the info...
I'm beginning to like my win server better than the linux.....
It's taking some getting use to......but I think i'll stick with it..

Have a great day...:)

You're nuts IMO. That Winblows server stuff is full of holes.

i have to agree...my servers run on linux boxes too....but i have tested some on a 2k server box too......thus my recollection of the FoxServ proggy

but you can cure allot of security issues by using apache webserver on your windows box rather than ANY kind of IIS bull****!

Thank you for your opinions.
This is the first for me so I will decide if it is secure enough for what I want.

All programs I run are independent and do not require IIS to run.
Thanks to ZERO I’m running apache web server for my php and sql.

So far so good.
Hell I was getting hit every ½ hour with a Trojans and mail snoops, running 2000 advanced server with IIS. So I know how bad it can get running IIS.

Thanks again and have a great day.

I kinda like the new winblows 2003 server-and the best part is IIS is not tied to it(seperate install).the worst part is -it looks easy -so if someone looks at it ,they WILL try to use it like a winxp machine.

does it have some kind of nonIIS webserver built in?

advanced server 2003 comes with IIS but you choose weather you want to install it.

Have you 2 heard of BadBlue?
Works well for what is is.

I have another program if your interested shoot me an e-mail.
It is sorta like foxserv but it is not freeware.....:)

Have a great day....

yes....as matter of fact i have

BadBlue is very good for freeware....i just dont like the fact that no one can upload to your shared directory....but other than that..it works really well

You can upload to the shared directory..:)....:)
You have to create a directory called uploads and share it.
But you already knew that right...;)

thats not what i was talking about

i mean that it cant be uploaded to outside of "root" logon....(ie if i am runnin badblue...you logged onto my server via the internet, you cannot upload a file to my badblue directory)

Just create a shortcut in your badblue dir to your upload dir....:)
Or just put everything in your upload dir.

thats not my point....

i was inferring to being able to let someone ELSE from a remote location upload files to my directory

but i think badblue is a good server for what it is
