I used to use McAfee VirusScan then switched to Norton. Now McAfee has a message showing up on my computer every two minutes (I timed it) telling me I need to update my software. I deleted the McAfee program, deleted all registry entries pertaining to the program and still it shows up. Help!

Here is a link to manually uninstall mcaffee products. Try it. This should remove that silly warning

I tried everything on that page of instructions from McAfee and it didn't help. Thanks for the idea though.

Try a scan reg in command prompt. It should remove the culprit.

the only other thing I saw was to try and uninstall live update. That may be holding the message.

I had already deleted every referance to McAfee in the program files and in the registry so I downloaded the virusscan.reg file from McAfee and ran it. It was supposed to remove files from the regestry however for me it placed some files back in there. I removed these manually and that took care of my problem.
