Ok, I just need to vent.
I've had a network in my house now for a long time. A couple of months ago I decided to make the laptop in the kitchen wireless. So I went out and bought a d-link wireless router and wireless pc card for the laptop. I put the router in the kitchen and am using it just as an access point. My wired router is in the basement right by my good computer (goliath).
My wife was happy as an ant in a honey jar. She was playing yahoo cards everywhere in the house. Watching TV;Play Cards, Do the Laundry;Play Cards, Sit on the deck to tan;Play Cards, Go to bed; Play Cards, etc...
You get the idea. It was like the laptop was tethered to her. Then came the inevitable. She dropped the laptop off the bed. It landed square on the wireless pc card and shoved it right through the back of the pc card socket.
The laptop survived but the pc card slot is toast. I took the laptop apart and removed all the little pieces floating around inside. It busted the bottom of the pc socket out and sheared all the little pins right off the motherboard.
Now she wants the wireless back. My only option that I know of now is a USB wireless nic. OH THE PAIN....
I'm gonna leave her suffer for now. The built in wired nic is still operating fine. She's gonna have to deal with it. I got real lucky the laptop is working fine still. It doesn't even realize the socket is missing. Whew!
Anybody need a Wireless PC Card?....
