Jelsoft has released vBulletin Beta one. None of the existing vBulletin 3.x hacks are expected to work with vBulletin 3.5.

If you upgrade to vBulletin 3.5, expect our hacks to break. :(

We will most likely start testing in the near future, but have no planned schedule for new releases. We'll take queues from vB on when to start as they seem to be being very candid as to where they are in the dev process.

Thank you for your understanding.

I just downloaded the code. It is clearly labled as "unstable" in the members download area.

While I do see folks posting they have installed vBulletin 3.5 beta on live boards, be sure this is the best decision for you before following other's leads. They may be and probably are experienced vBulletin hack coders and such.

I got it and I'll be looking at it tonight and report back more.

Got through the installer tonight with NP.

Working on the Group permissions now. I dunno if I hit an imcomplete piece of code, a bug, or need to add more code, but I'm stuck. I can make the option show up in the ACP, but it has no effect on the DB.

After that I'll do the queries and the POST vars code in the main file.

We'll use the hook system for WOL and Latest threads on forum home.

At least that's where I think I am.

The vBGarage for vbulletin 3.5 beta 1 installer is complete. The new vBGarage will use the new custom group permissions available in vBulletin 3.5. This makes for a nice easy install. No files to edit and no worry of stepping on another custom permssion.

Now I have to go through the vbgarage.php file and update the usage of the vars that are now part of classes such as group permissions. We have to convert all the incoming form variable processing from the old globalize function to the new method. Then there's the queries to check.

There may be more that I'm overlooking or not noticing at this time, but things are going well. vBulletin is getting the information we need out pretty darn quickly.

Other hack? 4.1.0 Beta 2?

I'd say this pretty much kills further dev of any vB 3.0.7 code for me.

I'll be converting my forums and hacks to vBulletin 3.5. I will create upgrade paths though. We won't leave anyone behind if we can help it.

Well, I spoke too soon that the vBGarage 4.3.5 installer was done. Running the installer was a success, but when I got to the code, I had to keep going back to the installer to update the templates and stuff. But it came together in the end.

The garage is up and working and in the final testing stage.

The new vBulletin 3.5 is very nice to work with. So far we have two plugin's for vBGarage 4.3.5 for the WOL. There will be one more optional plugin you can create for the latest uploads on forumhome.

There are no PHP files to edit. That's sweet. If the new vBulletin 3.5 plugin system doesn't cause an overhead issue when it gets taxed on large busy boards with a bunch of hacks, we'll have something pretty awsome.

The new method of creating custom permissions for hacks is great. This system eliminates the previous need to edit the "includes/init.php". Instead now we just upload an XML file to be utilized during the vBGarage 4.3.5 install.

I'll keep playing with the new code and see if it's ready for testing. Remember, this is a new install only so far. I will do the upgrade next.

Not just the installer. vBGarage is a working vBulletin 3.5 plugin!

So far so good. Hopefully it will continue to go well.

I just added max image size and width to the acp. And a option to control your thumbnail size.

Now images larger then the allowed deminsion size you set will be auto resized.

The max files size takes presidence in this. So if the pic is too big, it's just too big.

Added a more image controls. If the image is real tall, the thumb will be forced to a max height of 125 pixels.

Added image height and width to the database.

Several new pharses.

vBGarage is not going to be released for vBulletin 3.5.

Instead, new code will be replacing it and released as a gallery, not a garage. There will be a way to convert a vBGarage to the new gallery product in the future.

vBGarage was a good idea that had bad code. I have had the pleasure of maintinaing it, however, after all this work, it's best I start over and get rid of any copyright issues that may arise.

If you don't mind me saying so, I always appreciated the hard work that went into vbgarage! I also fell out of the vbulletin hype at the height of your vbgarage coding but a lot of my users knew of your hack.

I'm still very interested in your development. If there's any way to help, be it donations or testing, please pm me. I love vbgarage and would be willing to iron out the code you disliked as it's far better than what I could code on my own :)

Thanks for working on this.

There is a new gallery that vbulletin 3.0.x users using vbgarage can upgrade to on vbulletin 3.5. It's our vBPicGallery.

Thanks
