I originally had Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 on my home computer, the one my family uses, and of course, they abuse it lol. The copy of XP that I had I lost, so my friend gave me his dad's Dell reinstallation cd of Windows XP home with SP2, so I used it. Now, it is asking me for activation. I can't activate it online because I need that code that is on the sticker on the computer, because it is my friends dads. Is there a way to get rid of the activation, or, if I were to activate it, would I get in trouble and how would I go about fixing this problem.
Thanks.

Hi welcome to the forums. Unfortunately we cannot help you for 2 reasons:
1. What you are doing is illegal, and yes you could get in serious trouble.
2. We are a forum recognized by Microsoft and I don't think they would appreciate us helping somebody pirate their software. Pirating Software (especially MS software is a giant concern of Software Companies right now) They will punish offenders and the fines are considerably large.
However, if you really owned the XP Pro CD and lost it. You may be able to contact Microsoft to get a new disc. If you cannot prove that you owned it, I'm afraid you'll have to buy a new one.
