I'm trying to get my 98 SE to boot from a floppy, but the computer only says how to boot from a windows disk. The program I want to boot is http://www.menuetos.org/ (MenuetOS) .
Set your bios to check A: for a boot disk and then it should just boot fine when ya use the floppy to boot and try the new OS.

That's what I need to know how to do. Windows help does not say how, I don't think they want it to be easy to find a better OS.
hehe, well what brand computer do you have? I'm sure we can help you turn on floppy drive booting.

HP Pavilion.
I found an older computer I might be able to run it on instead, but I expect the same problem. It's just a 95 of the same brand.
Just cause your computer came with windows 95 or windows 98 does not make it a windows computer exclusively. You chose to run windows, it's your computer and you can choose to run any OS you want. It's none of Microsoft's business.
We need the model numbers to get accurate information.

It's a HP Pavilion 8390, but I might not need it; I think the old one runs Menuet.

It doesn't say how either. It's a Dell Demension M166a. I thought it was an HP at first.
AND the mouse ball on the Dell doesn't work when I try to go left, but I can find a new one lying around.
I'm off until tomorrow.
