hi
i have a problem in my LAN,i am using cable Internet to my cyber cafe.
My all computers have xp based, my server is also xp professional installed, i am using ICS. when i plug out lan cable and then ping yahoo.com it took 300-600 ms and when i plug in lan cable it took 2000.3500 ms and some time it says time out.

please help

I don't see why you would use ICS. Just use a router on your lan to the cable connection. That should fly.

I don't understand your statement to be honest. I don't see what ICS has to do with a cable connection that could use a harware router for a better shared connetion then ICS.

That's what I'm wondering too!

Is ICS completely gone and the gateway address for the clients set to the cable router and not the ICS computer when you enable the cable connection?

My first question would be...."Are you using DHCP on your workstations?"

If so then I would say that could be a reason of the delay. Try giving ALL machines a Static IP and then try your ping test again.

Also....I dont understand why you would run ICS either. I would use a router instead of ICS like nop suggested. I would still use Static IPs even with a router so you could control your inet access better as well.
